Miracle on 34th Street, Dec. 9 @ 11am The Coronado Island Film Festival will celebrate the season next Saturday morning, Dec. 9, with an 11 a.m. screening of the beloved 1947 treasure, “Miracle on 34th Street,” at the Village Theatre.

Tickets are $5 and are on sale now at the theater box office. Early arrival is recommended for best seating availability.

The film, which garnered three Oscars and four nominations, stars Maureen O’Hara, John Payne, Edmund Gwenn, and an eight-year-old Natalie Wood. Gwenn, in the role of Santa Claus, won the Best Supporting Actor Oscar.

An enduring Christmas favorite, the film tells the story of a nice old man (Gwenn) who insists he is Santa Claus, and is therefore institutionalized as insane. A young lawyer (Payne) decides to defend him by arguing in court that he is indeed the real thing.

This will mark the final selection in the 2017 Festival Classic Movie Series. The 2018 monthly series lineup will be announced this month.
