Oscar-Winning Musical, “Gigi” Comes to Classic Movie Series April 26th, 5pm
“Gigi,” the dazzling 1958 musical set in Belle Epoque Paris, will light up the screen at the Village Theatre on Wednesday, April 26 at 5 p.m. The film, starring Leslie Caron, Louis Jourdan, Maurice Chevalier, Hermione Gingold and Eva Gabor, was the winner of nine Academy Awards, including Best Picture (Arthur Freed), Best Director (Vincente Minnelli), Best Screenplay (Alan Jay Lerner), Best Costume Design (Cecil Beaton), Best Original Song (Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe) and Best Musical Score (Andre Previn).
“Gigi” marks the third film in the monthly Festival Classic Movie Series, sponsored by the Coronado Island Film Festival and the Village Theatre. Tickets are just $5; on sale now at the theatre box office.
Next month’s feature will be the brilliant “Chinatown,” 1974, directed by Roman Polanski and starring Jack Nicholson, Faye Dunaway and John Huston. It will screen on May 31.
